Healing with Crystals
What is Crystal Healing? Crystal healing is an alternative medicine technique that employs stones and crystals as healing tools. They work through resonance and vibration. The practitioner places crystals on different parts of the body, often corresponding to chakras, or places crystals around the body in an attempt to construct an "energy grid", which surrounds the client with healing energy.
Crystals have been used for millennia to heal and bring balance. Different cultures have used crystal healing over time, including the Hopi Native Americans of Arizona and Hawaiian islanders, some of whom still continued to use it. The Chinese have traditionally attributed healing powers to micro-crystalline jade, and some other eastern cultures believe that emerald will strengthen the memory and increase intelligence. Crystals are even used in certain modern medical practices such as in ultrasound machines.
Crystal healers use their knowledge of the stones and of the patient in the healing process. There are various methods of healing with crystals, such as placing crystals on and around a person while they are lying down, or using a wand or point to focus love, energy and intent on the other person in a way that relates specifically to their ailment and needs.
How do Crystals Heal?
Crystals provide a gentle non-invasive form of healing that co-operates with the body’s own inner healer, a repair mechanism that brings things back into balance. Working through vibration, resonance and colour, crystals heal holistically and dissolve dis-ease within the body. They act on your body, mind, psyche and spirit to restore equilibrium and rectify the underlying causes of a condition.
Because different crystals have different energies and properties they can affect the mental, physical, spiritual and emotional aspects of a person. The right crystal can affect the energy of an environment, and the energy it holds can influence you whether you simply hold it in your hand or place it by your bed or on the mantelpiece. Simply holding the right crystal at the right time can bring about a change in our attitude and well-being. You don't necessarily need to look up the meaning each time you do this. Over time you may acquire a number of crystals - just take hold of the one you feel drawn to.
Most illnesses result from a combination of factors, and crystals gently deal with the cause rather than just alleviating the symptoms. You can lay the crystals o or around your body for 10 – 30 minutes or use a stone like a reflexology tool to stimulate a specific point on the body.
What is disease?
Dis-ease is the subtle pre-cursor to disease and illness. It is not being comfortable in your physical body. It is when your emotions and mental attitudes affect the physical body which eventually result in and actual physical illness, condition or disease. Crystals work exceptionally well alleviating the effects of dis-ease before it can manifest into a physical condition.
Causes of disease
* Damaged immune system – your immune system is the front line of defence against disease. If your immune system is not functioning well, then dis-ease and organisms invade the body
* Shock or attack – if you receive a shock, whether it is physical, emotional or mental, your chakras go out of balance and your body reacts. If you are attacked, whether by a virus or by someone’s thoughts, dis-ease results
* Stress and tension – anything which puts a continual stress on your system and which causes inadequate rest will ultimately result in dis-ease
* Negative attitude or emotions – how you think or feel is how you ultimately become in your physical body. Emotions such as guilt or suppressed anger are insidious forerunners of disease, as are low self-esteem and shame
* Emotional exhaustion – if you have been continually drained by a person or situation then you have lowered resistance to disease
* Anxiety or fear – chronic anxiety and continual fear weaken the body. Anxiety is usually accompanied by loss of appetite and irregular sleeping patterns and is often exacerbated by smoking or drinking.
Because crystals are connected with the subtle electromagnetic energies, much of their work is done through realigning the bio-magnetic sheath (energy field) or aura that surrounds the physical body and cleansing the chakras, the energy centres that connect the two together. Crystals absorb, focus, transmute and transmit electromagnetic energies. They are like cosmic transceivers, stepping cosmic energy down from the spiritual level so that it can be absorbed and used by the physical body.
Can the wrong crystal do me harm?
As with many objects used for divination and healing, a crystal can only do harm in the wrong hands. A crystal healer only uses a crystal as a tool. A great crystal does not make a great crystal healer, just as a great paintbrush does not make a great painter. You do need to take some care if you are looking for a crystal healer. If you cannot get a recommendation from a previous client, speak to the healer before accepting treatment. If you don't feel you would trust them in some everyday matter, neither should you trust them with your well-being.

Crystals and Chakras
What Are Chakras?
It is a system of "Energy Points" covering our body through which we interact with the outside world and the internal workings of our own bodies. The word chakra (pronounced sha-kra) comes from the Indian Sanskrit word meaning wheel or disk. There are seven main energy centres (chakras) of the body which resonate with the seven rainbow colours. Each chakra is dedicated to specific parts of our body and associated with our spiritual advancement. The chakras begin at the base of the spine and finish at the top of the head. Though fixed in the central spinal column they are located on both the front and back of the body, and work through it.
If you can imagine the main chakras / energy centres as a set of cogs/wheels, they are rather like the workings of a clock or an engine; each cog /wheel needs to move smoothly and at a similar speed for the clock / engine to work properly. Good health and well being is achieved by a balance of all these energies (or the smooth running of the cogs/wheels).
The Chakras work like power stations for the body. Our bodies are made up of an electromagnetic energy and the flow of this energy affects our general state of well being. Each chakra is responsible for energising different vital organs, nerves and muscles, and distributing energies throughout our being.
Each chakra vibrates or rotates at a different speed. The root or first chakra rotates at the slowest speed, the crown or seventh chakra at the highest speed. Each chakra is stimulated by its own and complimentary colour, and a range of gemstones for specific uses. The chakra colours are of the rainbow; red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and violet. The size and brightness of the wheels vary with individual development, physical condition, energy levels, disease, or stress.
If the chakras are not balanced, or if the energies are blocked, the basic life force will be slowed down. The individual may feel listless, tired, out of sorts, or depressed. Not only will physical bodily functions be affected so diseases may manifest, but the thought processes and the mind may also be affected. A negative attitude, fear, doubt, etc. may preoccupy the individual.
A constant balance between the chakras promotes health and a sense of well-being. If the chakras are opened too much, a person could literally short-circuit themselves with too much universal energy going through the body. If the chakras are closed, this does not allow for the universal energy to flow through them properly which may also lead to dis-ease.
The benefit of learning about your own chakra system is for you to understand on a whole (whole = body, mind and spirit in harmony) that when all parts of you (all of your seven chakra centers) are communicating equally and working in alliance with each other, you will have little or no energy disorders. For example, if the mental part of you is powerful and so are the physical, emotional and spiritual parts of you equally as strong, it is then that you feel at your optimum level
Crystals and gemstones are wonderful and powerful healing tools because they respond to the electricity that is coursing through our body, and if the energy is sluggish, the constant electrical vibrations of the stones will help to harmonize, balance, and stimulate these energies.
Chakra Locations
Each human being has seven major chakras that are located vertically along the spinal column that run from the base of our spine (between the legs) to the top of our head. They are part of the bodies subtle energy system and thus do not have physical representation. The chakra names are: root chakra, sacral chakra, solar plexus chakra, heart chakra, throat chakra, third eye chakra and the crown chakra.
Chakra Colours
Each chakra is associated with a different colour of the rainbow, is sensitive to sound, and has a collection of emotions, thoughts and feelings related to it. The chakra colours are red, orange, yellow, green, blue, indigo, and
violet. The brightness, size and colour of the chakra wheels vary depending on a person’s physical condition, health, stamina levels, personal development, awareness and stress. Chakras are sensitive to and can be energised and rebalanced using energy healing modalities, colour therapy, sound healing, gemstones, crystals, homoeopathic remedies and essential oils.
Balanced Chakras
Universal love, Energy and Knowledge flows through the Chakras. It is important to maintain the correct energy flow through each Chakra since you could also negatively be affected by a Chakra being too open. When our chakras are balanced and we have the correct energetic flow through them it radiates good health and well being. Chakras that are functioning normally will be open and spinning clockwise at a similar frequency to each other. Chakras that are over-active and opened too much can cause negative effects since too much universal energy is going through the body.
Unbalanced Chakras
Over time chakras can become unbalanced, under-active or closed down, blocking the life energy to the corresponding parts of the body. When your Chakras are not vibrating or spinning properly you are unable to move your physical, emotional and mental body onto a higher spiritual level. This can cause illness, disease, physical problems, tiredness and depression. The individual may be effected with a negative attitude, have feelings of fear and doubt, feel out of touch, unable to think clearly, get angry, feel unhappy for no reason, lack self confidence and have a negative outlook on life.
Psychological and physical bodily problems have been said to show up in a person’s chakra system and aura (energy field) before the symptoms were actually apparent.
When your Chakras are not vibrating or spinning properly you are unable to move your physical, emotional and mental body onto a higher spiritual level Eventually the Chakras become out of balance and this manifests into the health of our physical bodies.
What Causes Blocked Chakras?
Some of the reasons our chakras can become blocked are due to negative energy, psychic debris or leading an unhealthy lifestyle and diet. This is when we call upon healing experts to bring our chakras into perfect balance and alignment, unblocking particular chakras that are keeping the life energy from flowing freely.

Balancing the Chakras Using Crystals Crystals have a vibration which can be measured... and according to the level of the vibration can be effective healers of individual chakras. The fact that colours also have vibrations, that can be measured... is the reason why particular stones that are specific colours are effective, in different areas of the body. One of the simplest ways to help balance the whole chakra system is to place a stone of the appropriate colour on each area.
What you need: You will need seven crystals each corresponding to the colour of a chakra and a haematite or tourmaline crystal to help ground you afterwards.
* Choose your crystals and arrange them in sequence beside where you will be lying.
* Lie down and relax.
* To gently balance and realign your chakra energies, place one stone of the appropriate colour on each chakra area for a few minutes. * Place a grounding stone like smoky quartz, haematite or black tourmaline between the feet to act as an anchor.

Create a Chakra Crystal Kit
If you have a crystal collection already, select stones of the specific chakra colours. Tumblestones work best for this. Keep them in a pouch together, separate from your other crystals, and use them to reenergise and balance your chakras as and when you need to.
If you do not have the appropriate crystals, that is fine, you can build up your Chakra kit slowly.
Chakra Kits can also be bought at most crystal shops. Many kits have eight or nine or more.... and this is an advantage. A chakra kit should have a chart included that will tell you how to use the various chakra stones.

The Art of Aura Gazing
The aura is the electromagnetic energy field that emanates from all living things, it is 'The Light of the Soul' This light comes from our Chakras, the spiritual centers within our body. The aura colors and patterns within this energy field constitute a kind of blueprint of a person’s soul, a chart of the individual's potential. Aura is kind of luminous egg-shaped cloud of pulsing energy that surrounds the human body. It extends out from the body about six feet in all directions. It is made up of layers of colored light that travel in patterns around the body. Depending upon our health and our mood the size and color of the aura can change.
The more in touch we are with our own unique talents and skills, the richer, more luminous the colors in our aura will be. The colors of individuals who are emotionally withdrawn or have given up on life tend to fade into thin pastel washes. Good physical, mental, and emotional health is seen in clear, bright colors. Depression, anger, and self-pity tend to muddy the aura colors. The aura is multidimensional. In addition to the molecules of colored light, the aura also has size. Some people's auras are large and full of information while others' are thin, indicating lives that are spiritually, mentally, and emotionally undernourished.
The aura identifies areas of the body where an individual holds stress. A thick aura indicates the ability to search within oneself for information with which to solve problems. The aura also emits patterns, which are determined by the direction in which the molecules of light flow. These flow patterns indicate the general attitude an individual has toward life. An active pattern means that a person is engaging life in a healthy way. The aura is used in spiritual healing to identify and cure problems within the physical body.
The Auric Fields
It is generally believed that the human aura has seven major levels. The physical and etheric levels extend about six inches to a foot from the physical body. The emotional auric levels extend about two feet from the body and incorporate the physical and etheric levels. The mental and spiritual auras extent approximately three feet from the body and incorporate the other levels.
Auric Body / Physical Plane
Layer 1 Physical Body (Lower Etheric Aspect)
The first auric layer is the Etheric Body associated with physical aspects and awareness of the material body and is related to the First (Root) Chakra. It is on the next higher vibrational level to the physical body which has the lowest vibrational level. It bridges the connection of the material body to the higher bodies. The etheric body is an energy matrix and the form is shaped and anchored to the physical matter of the material body. The etheric body extends only a quarter of an inch up to one inch outside the skin of the physical body. The etheric body is invisible to most people, while some can see it as a faint grayish-white color outlining the physical body.
Layer 2 Emotional Body (Lower Emotional Aspect)
The second auric layer is the Emotional Body associated with the vibrational level of inner feelings and related to the Second (Sacral Plexus) Chakra. It extends three inches around from the physical body. This body or auric layer and all higher layers are perceived by the third eye.
Layer 3 Mental Body (Lower Mental Aspect)
The third auric layer is the Mental Body which is associated with the vibrational level of thoughts and mental processes of the ego and related to the Third (Solar Plexus) Chakra. It extends three up to eight inches around from the physical body.
Auric Body / Astral Plane
Layer 4 - Astral Body
The fourth auric layer is the Astral Body associated with areas of expression on a physical, emotional and mental level and is related to the Fourth (Heart) Chakra. It is called the bridge between the denser or lower vibrations of the physical plane and the finer or higher vibrations of the spiritual planes. It is the layer in which all energy must pass through when going from one world to the other. It extends one half foot up to one foot around from the physical body.
Auric Body / Spiritual Plane
Layer 5 Etheric Template Body (Physical Aspect)
The fifth auric layer is the Etheric Template associated with aspects of the physical body and related to the Fifth (Throat) Chakra. Known as a blueprint of the lower etheric body and where matter is shaped into the physical aspect. It extends one and one half up to two feet around from the physical body.
Layer 6 - Celestial Body (Emotional Aspect)
The sixth auric layer is the Celestial Body associated with processes of enlightenment and related to the Sixth (Brow or Third Eye) Chakra. It is composed almost exclusively of light and is also known as the intuitive level. This layer gives us access to higher qualities of feelings, thoughts and manifestations. It extends two feet up to two and three and a quarter feet around from the physical body.
Layer 7 Ketheric or Causal Body (Mental Aspect)
The seventh layer is the Ketheric or Causal Body associated with the Divine or Universal Consciousness and is related to the Seventh (Crown) Chakra. The causal body contains the life plan or "soul contract" and reflects all experiences and events that the soul has ever experienced and is the level directly related to the current incarnation. The ketheric body is the purest form and link to God/dess, within each of us. This layer is on a level that cannot be experienced from the limiting viewpoint of ego. It extends two feet up to three and one half feet in an oval shape around the physical body.
It takes some practice to be able to see auras all the time but with practice it can happen.
This exercise is designed to see Aura for the first time and/or practice seeing Auras. Choosing good conditions is important: not only you see the Aura better, but also to gain a confidence about what you see.
- Situate the person in front of a very softly illuminated PLAIN WHITE background. A color background will change Aura colors, so you need additional knowledge about combining colors. Some combinations of background and Aura colors may cause misinterpretation problems.
- Choose ONE SPOT to look at. The middle of the forehead is VERY GOOD. This is a location of so called Brow Chakra or the Third Eye. In some cultures (India) they put a mark on a forehead. Such a mark in ancient times could mean the invitation to look and see the Aura.
- Look at this spot for 30 to 60 seconds or longer
- After 30 seconds analyze surroundings with your peripheral vision, while still looking at the same spot. Continuing the concentration is most important. Resist temptation to look around. You should see that the background nearby the person is brighter and has a DIFFERENT color than the background further away. This is your own perception of the Aura. The longer you concentrate, the better you will see it. Remember, concentration on one spot increases your sensitivity by accumulating the effect of the Aura vibration reaching your eyes.
